Marvel Preview #23 / Bizarre Adventures 2 - Frank Miller art

Marvel Preview v1 #23 presents Bizarre Adventures 2, 1980 - Different and varied genres fill this particular issue, despite the fantasy-themed cover. Frank Miller illustrates a tale of a dystopian future. A New York City resident opens a warning letter, prompting him to flee the inevitable fate that awaits. The artist revels in his gritty depiction of a decrepit city. His textural shading and backgrounds (charcoal perhaps?) effectively reinforce the depressing mood and tone. Other artists in this issue include John Buscema, Joe Jusko, Gene Colan, John Tartag, Steve Bissette, Alfredo Alcala and Clyde Caldwell (cover). This is number 1 of 1 Marvel Preview issues with Miller art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Miller or Marvel Preview issues. See also this blog's Frank Miller checklist.
