Adventures Into Darkness #8 - Alex Toth art

Adventures Into Darkness #8
Adventures Into Darkness v1 #8, 1953 - Two horrific Alex Toth tales stand out from the rest of the issue. In the first, newlyweds become trapped in the hi-tech, mechanical house built by a jealous suitor. The second story tells of shipwreck survivors afloat in a raft and their decision to leave a man in the water. While the latter has more texture and cross-hatching, the former is more elegantly designed and paced (see interior page below). Both show the hallmarks of Toth's work: streamlined shapes and darkened panels. Other artists in this golden age comic include Charles Sultan and Sam Citron. Cover by Rocco "Rocke" Mastroserio. This is 2 of 3 Adventures Into Darkness issues by Toth.

If anyone's interested I animated up a little 30 second imaginary ad for Rocco "Rocke" Mastroserio's cover to this issue (heh, not a speck of Toth to be found however -- sorry) -->
