Warlord #37 |
The Warlord v1 #37, 1980 - Omac begins as a back-up feature, picking up where Jack Kirby's
first series left off.
Jim Starlin, artist and writer, adds more details to the hero's origin and introduces a newly revised costume. Most of the story is narrated by an alien named Quair, recalling events leading up to the present day. The format results in mostly repetitive nine panel layouts. Still, these are largely offset by Starlin's engaging pencils, nicely delineated by inker Joe Rubenstein. Other artists in this copper age comic include Mike Grell and Vince Colletta. This is 1 of 3
Warlord issues by
Starlin.

Why do these inks look like mud? Nothing better than the Grell and Colletta Warlords.
I prefer Grell's 1970s work on Superboy / the Legion of Super-heroes.
