The Art of John Byrne, 1980 - Super-heroes recoil in fear from the robotic Rog-2000 on John Byrne's amusing painted cover. Following essays by Roger Stern and Terry Austin, the main interview is interspersed with various sketches and finished artwork. A two-page portrait of Marvel heroes (the only interior pages in color) fill the center spread. "Critical Error", an adult-themed space exploration tale, contains 25 story pages with no captions or dialogue (see interior page above). Rounding out the book are six stunning, full page portraits of individual X-men (Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops, Phoenix, Colossus and Sprite) and a primarily bronze age checklist. Paperback, full color cover & back cover, black and white interiors (except center spread), 76 pages total. See today's posts or more Byrne issues. See also this blog's Byrne checklist.
