Crazy Magazine v1 #2, 1973 -
Neal Adams displays his sillier side with a parody of McCloud, the 1970s tv detective series starring Dennis Weaver. Although he brings a realistic draftsmanship to the drawings, the slightly exaggerated faces and figures are enough to fit the satirical mood. The resulting pages have an unexpected grace and splendor. Adams' impact is much less felt on the James Bond-ish "Live and Let Spy", where he partially contributes inks as one of the
Crusty Bunkers. Also included are two Harvey Kurtzman "Hey Look" pages, reprinted from the 1940s. Other artists in this comic include Bob Foster, Larry Hama, Marie Severin, Vic Martin, Larry Kirk, Robert Graysmith, Ralph Reese. Cover by Kelly Freas. "Live and Let Spy" was later reprinted in
Crazy Magazine #73. This is 1 of 1
Crazy Magazine issues by
Adams.
