Robin Hood Tales #1 |
Robin Hood Tales v1 #1, 1956 - Purportedly by
Matt Baker, the cover is adequately and thoughtfully composed. The large tree on the right helps frame the picture, leading the eye from the masthead to the figures below. There's just enough space to accommodate a brief description on the left and an oncoming knight on the right. Chuck Cuidera is credited with the inks in some comic guides. Unfortunately, the art is inconsistent with Baker's style in the 1950s. More than likely this cover is mis-attributed. Fortunately, the artist would contribute short stories in
Robin Hood Tales #2-6. This issue also includes artwork by Sam Citron.
