Green Lantern v2 #149 |
Green Lantern v2 #149, 1982 – A frontier sheriff temporarily becomes Earth’s first Green Lantern during the 1800s, an interesting concept I’m surprised no one thought of before. During a climactic shoot-out with bank robbers, the hero creates a massive yellow tree to shield him from bullets, obviously a mistake in coloration.
Don Newton's pencils and Dan Adkins’ inks meet expectations, despite the strange pairing of super-hero and western genres. This particular work makes me wish he had done a lot more western stories during his lifetime. Other artists in this copper age comic include Joe Staton and Dick Giordano. This is 2 of 3
