DC Comics Presents #66 - Joe Kubert art & cover

Joe Kubert
DC Comics Presents v1 #66, 1983 - By the late 1970s, Joe Kubert drew mostly covers, not stories, making this issue all the more special. A two-thousand year old druid statue comes to life, wreaking havoc on modern day Metropolis. Superman and the Demon meet this mystical threat head on. Kubert's pages are drawn with an uncommon sophistication often reserved for other genres. Scenes such as the interior of a natural history museum (pages 2-3), the unveiled statue (see interior page below) and druid's awakening (page 6) are just a few of the commanding images within the story. This is number 1 of 1 DC Comics Presents issues with Kubert art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Kubert or DC Comics Presents issues. See also this blog's Joe Kubert checklist.
