New Mutants #75 - John Byrne art & cover

John Byrne
New Mutants v1 #75, 1989 - John Byrne does an overall capable job on his only issue of this series. His opening splash and following panoramic spread provide an impressive setting. On subsequent pages, Byrne's influence subsides due to Bob McCleod's more aggressive inks. Still, his depictions of Magneto, Sebastian Shaw, Emma Frost and Sabre-Tooth do not disappoint. The artist's cover is fairly standard, but his signature mischievously finds its way into the strewn debris (bottom center, below Magneto's cape). This is number 1 of 1 New Mutants issues with Byrne art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Byrne or New Mutants issues. See also this blog's Byrne checklist.

  1. John Byrne also did the interior art for this issue.

  2. Right you are. The post has been modified accordingly. Thanks for catching that.
