Valor #3 - Al Williamson art

Valor v1 #3, 1955 - The leader of a Roman legion learns some harsh lessons on the battlefield. As in most EC stories, the narration and dialogue leave less room for visuals. And yet Al Williamson manages to exceed expectations with meticulously drawn uniforms, weapons and unspoiled environments (see interior page below). The story's large opening panel effectively displays the rugged setting and the scope of the military engagement. This story was later reprinted in Valor v2 #3. Other artists in this issue include Joe Orlando, Reed Crandall and Bernie Krigstein. This is number 3 of 4 Valor issues with Williamson art and/or covers.
