House of Mystery #224 |
House of Mystery v1 #224, 1974 - The first 100 page super spectacular on this mystery title, this issue contains both new material and reprints.
Alex Nino's chronicles a slew of murders during World War II that show signs of a werewolf. His renderings become harsher as the story progresses. Some faces are even distorted to the point of discomfort (page 7 panel 6). Still, Nino's work is distinctive and seems to suit the horror genre. Reprints include art by
Neal Adams (
House of Secrets #85) and
Bernie Wrightson (
Spectre #9). Other artists in this bronze age comic include Howard Purcell, Mort Meskin, George Roussos, Mike Sekowsky, Sergio Aragonés, Bill Draut, Jerry Grandenetti, Frank Giacoia, Gerry Talaoc, Frank Robbins and Alfredo Alcala. This is 5 of 14
