Tor #3 - Joe Kubert art & cover, Alex Toth art

Tor v1 #3 st john golden age comic book cover art by Joe Kubert
Joe Kubert
Tor v1 #3, 1954 - A literally explosive cover begins the first non-3D issue of the series. Fine textures and deep, rich colors enhance this outstanding Joe Kubert effort. The same level of artistry continues inside, starting with a serene splash page of Tor, standing at the water's edge of a prehistoric world. More controlled and polished, the artist also provides an exciting two-page pin-up of the caveman captured by an all-female tribe. While Kubert's work comprises most of the issue, Alex Toth steps in to illustrate the back-up "Danny Dreams". His opening page is beautifully idyllic (see interior page below), but subsequent pages lack clarity and effort. This is 3 of 5 Tor issues by Kubert art and 1 of 1 Tor issues by Toth.
