Planet of the Apes #19 - Mike Ploog art

Planet of the Apes v1 #19, 1975 - Encountering a pueblo-dwelling society, Alex, Jason and Malaguena take part in a sacred peyote rite. While under the effects of the drug, Brutus and his war machines begin their siege. Mike Ploog and Tom Sutton contributed to separate stories within the series, but here they collaborate as a team. Ploog supplies the pencils, but unfortunately Sutton's inks mostly dominate. The resulting pages seem overworked much of the time, including the two splash pages. On the backup story, Alfredo Alcala completes part four of the Conquest of the Planet of the Apes adaptation. Other artists in this issue include Bob Larkin (cover). This is number 10 of 10 Planet of the Apes issues with Ploog art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Ploog or Planet of the Apes issues.
