Marvel Two-in-One #54 - John Byrne art

Marvel Two-in-One #54

Ma
rvel Two-in-One v1 #54, 1979 - Deathlok the Demolisher emerges, marking an early appearance since his cancellation in Astonishing Tales. He meets his untimely end in the same story, cornered by the Thing, Quasar and other members of Project Pegasus. John Byrne's artwork is reliably satisfying and Joe Sinnott adds a nice finish to the pencils. Most engaging are his panels featuring Thundra and her wrestling opponents (pages 21-23). Among them is Screaming Mimi, making her first cameo appearance. She would later become the sonic-powered Songbird. This bronze age comic also includes cover art by George Perez and Terry Austin. This is 4 of 8 Marvel Two-In-One issues by Byrne. /// Byrne gallery

I remember buying this one off the "HEY KIDS, COMICS!" spinner rack. Deathlok made a previous Two-in-One appearance (27) post Astonishing Tales series.
