Sword of Sorcery #1 - Neal Adams, Bernie Wrightson art

Sword of Sorcery v1 #1, 1973 - Based on the characters by writer Fritz Leiber, DC makes its second foray into the sword and sorcery genre (preceded by Showcase's brief Nightmaster run). Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser's adventures are drawn by Howard Chaykin, aided by the Crusty Bunkers (comprised of Neal Adams, Dick Giordano and others). Adams' inks are the most prominent, certainly on most of the central figures. Bernie Wrightson also finishes the last three pages, possibly more. Both artists add polish and professionalism to the struggling pencils. Other artists in this issue include Mike Kaluta (cover). This is number 1 of 2 Sword of Sorcery issues with Adams art and/or covers and number 1 of 3 Sword of Sorcery issues with Wrightson art and/or covers.
