Star Wars #13 - John Byrne cover

John Byrne
Star Wars v1 #13, 1978 - Han Solo's partner runs amok on this busy John Byrne cover. Although Chewbacca is the focal point, the secondary figures of Luke Skywalker, R2D2 and C3PO lack hierarchy and compete against one another. Lack of visual breathing space further complicates the layout. Note that this series adapted the George Lucas film in the first four issues, but developed new stories from issue five onward. Other artists in this issue include Carmine Infantino and Terry Austin. This is number 1 of 1 Star Wars issues with Byrne art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Byrne or Star Wars issues.
