Lassie #21 - Matt Baker art

Lassie #21, 1955 - Matt Baker's first of three stories is slow to start, looser, and slightly less detailed than the previous issue. By page three he hits his stride, culminating in some superb panels of a storm at sea. Each tale opens with a relative small panel, confining the tone and excitement of each setting. Baker regardless demonstrates his fine draftsmanship throughout, especially in the close-ups of characters' faces. "Treasure of Orinoco" benefits from many exotic details, becoming more apparent as the story progresses. This is number 2 of 3 Lassie issues with Baker art and/or covers. See today's posts, more Baker or Lassie issues. See also this blog's Matt Baker checklist.
