Captain Marvel v2 #36 - Jim Starlin art

Captain Marvel v2 #36, 1975 - The origin and first appearance of Captain Marvel is reprinted for the first time since its initial publication in Marvel Super-heroes v2 #12. Jim Starlin draws a sharp new introduction and perhaps lays out (?) the final two pages for Alan Weiss to finish. While not as substantial as his previous Captain Marvel issues, the work has its merits. Other artists in this issue include Al Milgrom (cover). This is number 11 of 12 Captain Marvel issues with Starlin art and/or covers.

  1. I had a letter printed in that issue! Far out!

  2. It does seem like Marvel ran into frequent deadline problems in the 1970s, and used reprints instead. Starlin did more than his share of new "framing pages" around the old stuff. Giant size Defenders #1 and Marvel Feature #8 (see post) are only two that come to top of mind.
