Witching Hour #40 - Alex Nino art

Witching Hour v1 #40, 1974 - An elderly woman teeters on the brink of insanity, pushed there by her ambitious son. The sharp-edged drawings of Alex Nino add a surreal quality to an otherwise straightforward story. The son's pained expression on panel 4 page 6 is wildly distorted, diminishing the scene as a whole. That aside, Nino's work is as provocative and jarring as usual, exemplified by the ethereal first panel. Other artists in this issue include Bernard Baily, Ernie Chua and Nick Cardy (cover). This is number 2 of 4 Witching Hour issues with Nino art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Nino or Witching Hour issues. See also this blog's Alex Nino checklist.
