2. Witching Hour v1 #10, 1970 - Neal Adams delivers his best cover of the series, inspired by a scene in the interior Alex Toth story. He creates an exceptionally eerie mood with a minimum of elements. The overwhelming use of black makes the highlights on the old man stand out even more. The story chronicles the life of a man who cruelly toyed with women in his youth. Toth delivers an exceptional work of finely rendered illustrations. The title page splash (see interior page below) is a masterpiece of composition. Foreground objects increase depth while drawing the reader in. Toth's simple framing pages suffer by comparison. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Gray Morrow.
