Destructor #1 - Steve Ditko / Wally Wood art, Wood cover

Wally Wood
The Destructor v1 #1, 1975 - A young thug who turns his life around due to tragic circumstances, wreaking havoc on organized crime as the Destructor. Wally Wood's inks improve upon the frenetic and convoluted cover by Larry Lieber. Inside, Wood's collaboration with Steve Ditko is a great example of two artists with different yet compatible styles. Both seem equally represented on every page, resulting in some terrific artwork. Their opening splash (see interior page shown below) is dynamically composed, introducing the title character with boldness and excitement. This is number 1 of 2 Destructor issues with Wood art and/or covers and number 1 of 4 Destructor issues with Ditko art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Wood, Ditko or Destructor issues.
