Thor #174 - Jack Kirby art & cover

Thor v1 #174 marvel comic book cover art by Jack Kirby
Jack Kirby
Thor v1 #174, 1970 - A brilliant, yet errant engineer creates a robotic Crypto-Man, infusing it with half of Thor's fabled strength. The artwork is engaging, well laid out, and carefully paced. Jack Kirby's pencils once again benefit from Bill Everett's fine inking. Interestingly, his hand seems more evident on the bystanders than main characters (see interior page below). The cover, though proudly signed "Kirby and Everett", falls short of expectations. This is number 49 of 61 Thor issues with Kirby art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Kirby or Thor issues.
