Plop #14 - Wally Wood art

Plop v1 #14 dc 1970s bronze age comic book cover art by Basil Wolverton
Plop v1 #14, 1975 - Wally Wood is no stranger to humor comics, as his work on the early Mad series can attest to. His tale of a nerdy knight saving a damsel in distress is appropriately goofy yet superbly drawn. Many of the backgrounds are meticulous in detail, making this comparable to other, more serious bronze age works. This story was later reprinted in Best of DC #60. Sergio Aragones illustrates two excellent framing pages and two single-page gags. Other artists in this issue include Dave Manak and Basil Wolverton (cover). This is number 2 of 11 Plop issues with Wood art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Plop or Wood issues. See also this blog's Wood checklist.
