X-Men v1 #131, 1980 - Kitty Pryde goes through a baptism of fire, helping the X-men rescue their teammates from the Hellfire Club's White Queen (Emma Frost). Along with his terrific artwork,
John Byrne uses some clever sequencing for Nightcrawler's multi-pronged attack (see interior page below) and the X-men's quiet transition from heroes to civilians (page 26). As usual, the most gripping scene occurs on the opening splash, as Kitty desperately tries to lose her pursuers in a back alley. Although introduced in
