Weird Fantasy v2 #14 - Al Williamson / Frank Frazetta, Wally Wood art
Weird Fantasy v2 #14, 1952 - Al Williamson and Frank Frazetta collaborate on "Mad Journey", a tale of an experimental fuel that propels a rocket ship to Venus. The pencils are finely drawn, but compete with an abundance of dialogue throughout the story. Frazetta's inks are partial and inconsistent, adding little enhancement except for the first and final pages. In Wally Wood's tale, an advanced civilization exiles their most evil inhabitants to a remote planet. By contrast, his artwork is clear and precise, reinforcing the highly technological settings. Other artists in this issue include Al Feldstein, Jack Kamen and Joe Orlando. See today's posts or more Williamson, Wood, Frazetta or Weird Fantasy issues.
