House of Mystery #219 - Bernie Wrightson, Nestor Redondo art

House of Mystery #219
House of Mystery v1 #219, 1973 - Set in the 1600s, a town bailiff spares a witch's life in exchange for a bag of perpetual gold coins. Nestor Redondo's artwork is exceptional, filling each panel with painstaking detail. His level of craftsmanship seems especially high on page 5. Cain traps his brother Abel on Bernie Wrightson's amusing opening splash (see interior page below). His inking, brushwork and penchant for detail is simply breathtaking. This page was later reprinted in Welcome Back to the House of Mystery #1. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Alfredo Alcala. This is 22 of 28 House of Mystery issues by Wrightson and 8 of 16 House of Mystery issues by Redondo. /// Redondo gallery
