Swamp Thing v1 #6, 1973 - In a remote area of Vermont, a Swiss immigrant uses his clock-making skills to build an entire town, complete with mechanical residents. On the cover, Bernie Wrightson's robot has a menacing sheen that contrasts against the Swamp Thing's organic form. Most of the story displays an uncanny craftsmanship by the artist, from the idyllic countryside on page 4 panel 1 to the intricately drawn workshop on page 6 (see interior page below). Several near-repetitive panel sequences deliberately slow the pacing, with an emphasis on drama. Although midway through his run on the series, Wrightson's artwork continues to impress. This story was later reprinted in Roots of the Swamp Thing #3 and DC Special Series #17.
