Superman: The Secret Years #2 - Frank Miller cover

Frank Miller
Superman: The Secret Years v1 #2, 1985 - Frank Miller's second cover lacks the usual detail, perhaps as a homage to the hero's simpler 1940s rendition. The guns that Superman is twists out of shape are not immediately obvious, but reinforced by the bullet holes in the background. Generally, the art is a little too hurried and loosely executed. Note the milk carton on the lower right, suggesting Superman's wholesomeness perhaps? Other artists in this DC copper age superhero comic include Curt Swan and Kurt Schaffenberger. This is number 2 of 4 Superman the Secret Years issues with Miller art and/or covers.

I actually like it a lot. The sparseness of it really appeals to me. Like I said in an earlier post for Secret Years #1, I really enjoy the inking that Miller was doing immediately after 'Ronin'.
