Nightmare v2 #12, 1954 - Bodies writhe in agony as a ghastly torture chamber is discovered by an outsider. Sweat pours down his brow as he expresses shock and disbelief. Joe Kubert's cover design is fairly busy without seeming too chaotic. Now how the gritty textures of the chamber walls are echoed in the man's face in the foreground. Even so, this image is tamer than most horror comic covers of the same era. Other artists in this golden age horror comic include Louis Ravielli.
