The Land Unknown / Four Color Comics #845 - Alex Toth art

The Land Unknown / Four Color Comics #845, 1957 - One of Alex Toth's earliest stories for Dell, this sci-fi adaptation is based on the Universal Pictures film of the same name. Although better known for his impressionistic style, his artwork here is streamlined and polished. Despite some unusual renditions of dinosaurs, his drawings of the main characters are thoughtful and expressive. Toth effectively captures both the frozen landscape of Antarctica and the lush vegetation of a prehistoric forest. This is number 1 of 1 Land Unknown issues with Toth art and/or covers.
