Weird Western Tales v1 #15 featuring El Diablo, 1972 - After sharing the title with various other western characters (including Jonah Hex), El Diablo appears in his first featured solo issue. This bold Neal Adams cover depicts the mysterious rider cautiously approaching three gunman obscured in the background. A cover blurb in the form of a wanted poster is conspicuously placed on top of the hangman's noose, but seems completely out of place (a last minute addition by the publisher perhaps?). Adams' interior story fares much better, chronicling a cold blooded murder in the old west and the eventual retribution to follow. Like his previous El Diablo story in Weird Western #13, the artist inks his own pencils with impressive results. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Gil Kane and Bill Draut. This is 3 of 3 Weird Western issues by Adams.

The hidden noose is probably the result of the Comics Code rules, in a goal to not repeat an (in)famous EC tradition.

Thank's for another gem!
