Jim Steranko |
Supernatural Thrillers v1 #1 featuring It, 1972 - This
first issue features an adaptation based on Theodore Sturgeon's
It!. The timing coincides with the "swamp monster" trend prevalent during the 1970s.
Jim Steranko does a worthy cover rendition, despite being confined to a smaller area than usual. Note the artist's use of intricate textures on the background tree, rocks, clouds and muck monster itself. Steranko's cover was later re-painted by another artist for the cover of
Masters of Terror #1. This issue also includes artwork by Marie Severin and Frank Giacoia. This is 1 of 2
