Heroes Inc. presents Cannon v1 #NN (no number) (#1), 1969 - Sold at US military bases in the late 1960s, these characters were designed to appeal to a young adult male audience. Featuring war, science fiction and fantasy, this first issue is populated with busty women and mild nudity. Steve Ditko and Wally Wood team up for the main story, featuring the violently heroic Cannon, an American assassin. Explosive action fills nearly every page of this seamless collaboration. Two additional tales by Wood, Dragonella and the Misfits, round out the book, both reminiscent of his early work for EC's Mad a decade earlier.
