Jack Kirby
Kamandi v1 #3, 1973 - After the Great Disaster, Las Vegas becomes a thriving gorilla city. Kamandi must not only avoid its strongest inhabitant, but an electrified creature brought to Earth by one of the Apollo missions. Jack Kirby's merely adequate cover gives way to no less than two double page spreads. The most memorable scene displays a simian city, bustling with apes swinging across the panoramic view. Although the later pages tend to wind down, Kirby's initial pages create a distinctively different new world. This is 3 of 40 Kamandi issues by Kirby.
