Anthro v1 #6, 1969 - Howie Post introduced this prehistoric teenager in >
Showcase #74, which led to this short-lived, self-titled series.
Wally Wood lends a hand on this final issue. He labors over the inks on the story pages, adding greater nuance and texture. His collaboration on the cover, however, brings humor to new artistic heights. Aside from the implicit sex and sexism of the "girl-fighting" theme, there is much to admire. The composition is superbly planned, from the framing of the women beneath the masthead to Anthro's reclining figure fitting inside the negative space. Wood lovingly details the female figures, emphasizing their facial expressions and their scantily-clad attire. The artists' respective styles work together seamlessly. producing an iconic and admittedly campy image for the 1960s. This is 1 of 1
