Wonder Woman #199, 1972 - In a superhero title notorious for bondage covers, Jeff Jones raises the theme to new artistic heights. A masked executioner looks on while our heroine appears chained in a dungeon, perhaps awaiting an outcome. The cover design suffers a little from too much text, but the Jones's masterful use of shadows gives the reader a somber sophistication not often seen in comics.
