Marvel Comics Index #8A - Jim Steranko cover

Jim Steranko

Marvel Comics Index v1 #8A, 1979 - Jim Steranko's second cover of this series features Captain America during the golden age. The front depicts a more militaristic theme, even incorporating the iconic image of the flag raising at Iwo Jima. The back cover reveals Cap's comrades and enemies. Bucky, Human Torch, Sub-mariner, Baron Zemo, Batroc and the Red Skull are all depicted. In addition to the varying scales of the characters, Steranko's mastery of design is a skill few other comic book artists could equal.
