Monster Times v1 #1, 1972 - To start off this series, Bernie Wrightson makes two excellent contributions to this first issue. A two-page retelling of the original Nosferatu is superbly drawn, despite the small size of the panels. His mastery of light and dark compensates for the lack of color. Even better is Wrightson's full page Frankenstein illustration. He combines a large portrait with two other scenes from the movie, seamlessly integrating them. It is exceptionally drawn and detailed, predating the artist's own Frankenstein book by over a decade.
