Miss America Comics v1 #1, 1944 - Armed with the powers of flight and tremendous fighting ability, Miss America fights for justice and the American way. In this first issue, she quells an insurrection at a Japanese internment camp, stops a mad scientist from producing monsters and exposes a fake spiritualist. Stories by Bill Finger and Otto Binder were drawn by Pauline Loth. Cover by Ken Bald. Miss America first appeared in Marvel Mystery Comics #49. Interestingly, subsequent issues would contain more features targeted toward a female audience.
