(Archie's Girls) Betty and Veronica v1 #1, 1950 - Only the second spin-off from the Archie franchise, the two female rivals are given their own series. In one of the more memorable tales, Betty brings Veronica along to pick up a car from her uncle, who happens to be a circus clown. Another story has Betty picking up her dad's shotgun and nonchalantly running around town with it. This first issue's cover and all stories were drawn by George Frese. Interestingly, this series would last almost forty years. /// key 1st issue
