Pogo Possum v1 #1, 1949 - First appearing in Animal Comics, Pogo begins his first self-titled series starting with this first issue. The opening tale is a western spoof, as Pogo and Albert Alligator ride to the aid of their friend Soft Shell. Uncle Porkypine, Mose Muskrat, Howland Owl and the rest of his swampland crew also appear in this issue. All stories were written and drawn by Walt Kelly. Cover by Kelly.
