John Steed Emma Peel (The Avengers) v1 #1, 1968 - John Steed (played by Patrick Macnee) was an investigator who exposed spies and fought criminals with the help of an assistant. By the time this British tv show reached American audiences, Emma Peel (Diana Rigg) had settled in as his partner. Sadly for fans, this first issue was only a one-shot.
