House of Mystery v1 #1, 1951 - With this first issue, DC tries their hand at the horror genre. Interestingly, two stories tell of weird events that cause men to suspect their wives. One believes he married a witch, the other concludes his lover is a female werewolf. While tame compared to other horror books, House of Mystery ran for three decades. Five years later, DC came out with a sister publication: House of Secrets. Artists in this issue include Curt Swan, Ray Burnley and others. Cover by Win Mortimer and Charles Paris. /// key 1st issue- - - - - - - - - -
