Vanguard Illustrated v1 #1, 1983 - A government agent is sent to the far reaches of the galaxy to locate a traitor to the empire. But what if the traitor is a sentient planet? Pacific Comics introduces a science fiction series with a mature, contemporary bent. Collected stories would vary each issue. Notable in this first issue is Tom Yeates' excellent cover. The dramatic lighting, composition and detail pay homage to the EC sci-fi titles of the 1950s. Other artists in this issue include Steve Rude and Brendan McCarthy.
