New Mutants v1 #1, 1983 - Most of the team debuted in Marvel Graphic Novel #4, then subsequently appeared in this first issue. Professor X takes Cannonball, Mirage, Sunspot, Karma and Wolfsbane under his tutelage. Chris Claremont, writing for X-men at the time, takes over the scripting reins while Bob McCleod and Mike Gustovich provide the artwork. As an homage, these young heroes wear the same uniforms as the founding X-men. Cover by McCleod.
