New Mutants v1 #1, 1983 - Most of the team debuted in Marvel Graphic Novel #4, then subsequently appeared in this first issue. Professor X takes Cannonball, Mirage, Sunspot, Karma and Wolfsbane under his tutelage. Chris Claremont, writing for X-men at the time, takes over the scripting reins while Bob McCleod and Mike Gustovich provide the artwork.
