Showcase v1 #77, 1968 - Partners in a detective agency, Angel O' Day and her gorilla partner Sam Simeon get their very first case when a desperate man stumbles through the door. DC combines the detective and humor genres in an odd attempt to attract a hipper audience. Angel and the Ape's first self-titled series soon followed. This E. Nelson Bridwell story is beautifully drawn by Bob Oksner, often lauded for his work in teen humor comics. Cover by Oksner. Angel and the Ape would debut their own self-titled series later the same year.
