Silver Surfer #3 - John Buscema art + 1st Mephisto

Silver Surfer #3
Silver Surfer v1 #3, 1968 - Sensing the presence of a potential foe, Mephisto makes plans to entrap  the Silver Surfer by kidnapping his lost love Shalla Bal. As evil incarnate, Mephisto shares many of the same attributes as Satan, including his own nether realm. This Stan Lee story is exceptionally drawn by John Buscema. Five splashes are interspersed throughout the book, including a stunning portrait of the villain on his throne. This Silver Surfer story is among the artist's best and was later reprinted in Fantasy Masterpieces v2 #3. Cover by Buscema and Joe Sinnott. /// key 1st appearance, 1st cover Mephisto / select Buscema art
