Giant-size Invaders #1 |
Giant-size Invaders v1 #1, 1975 - Set during the early days of World War II, circumstances bring the Sub-mariner, Human Torch, Toro, Captain America and Bucky together fighting Nazis in America. Their own version of a super-soldier,
Master Man, proves to be their most potent weapon. In the aftermath of the heroes' battles, Winston Churchill himself asks them to band together to fight the Nazis overseas. Note that
Avengers #71 is often cited as the first appearance of the
Invaders, but none of the characters refer to themselves as such. Secondly, both Toro and Bucky are absent from the story. Whereas in this issue, Winston Churchill not only requests their formation as a team but gives them their name. This Roy Thomas story was drawn by Frank Robbins. Cover by Robbins. ///
