House of Secrets v1 #61, 1963 - Due to a black diamond he brought back from Diablo Island, Dr. Bruce Gordon transforms into a powerful villain. Eclipso makes his first appearance, emerging during a solar eclipse (naturally). Using the black diamond to emit rays of darkness, he wreaks havoc in the community. Gordon's dark secret is discovered by fiancee' Mona and her father Prof. Simon Bennett. Inspired by Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, this Bob Haney story was drawn by Lee Elias. Eclipso's face on the inset makes this technically his first cover appearance. This issue also includes art by Mort Meskin.
