Jack Kirby |
Challengers of the Unknown v1 #2, 1958 - In a pair of fantastical stories, the Challengers confront an odd square-shaped menace from underground and a criminal newly empowered due to a thought machine. Due to the plot, the second tale allows for more visual creativity. Jack Kirby's enthusiasm is evident in the sheer variety of imagery. Marvin Stein's inks are competent but sometimes detract from the initial pencils and layouts. Compared to the interiors, Kirby's cover is disappointingly tame. This is 2 of 8 Challengers of the Unknown issues by Kirby.
